PhD candidate recognized for paper

PhD candidate Jason Hnatko won a third-place prize in the 2020 Geosyntec Groundwater Student Paper Competition.

The annual Geosyntec Groundwater Student Paper Competition recognizes and rewards graduate students who perform cutting edge research on the treatment and assessment of contaminants in soil and groundwater.

In the 2020 competition, Tufts PhD candidate Jason Hnatko, of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was awarded a third-place prize. His paper was titled "Impact of Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances on Dehalococcoides mccartyi Strains."

Hnatko's advisors are Adjunct Assistant Professor Natalie Cápiro (Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Auburn University) and Adjunct Professor Kurt Pennell (250th Anniversary Professor of Engineering at Brown University).
